This beautiful bright coloured chromolithographic plate originates from the first edition of an antique atlas describing all butterflies, caterpillars and moths in the Netherlands in the early 1900's.

 

This 111-year-old print is in excellent condition and has 14 detailed illustrations of butterflies and caterpillars, including the Apollo and Southern festoon.

 

The numbers below correspond with the numbers on the plate:

2. Parnassius apollo L. The Apollo / Mountain apollo.
3. Parnassius mnemosyne L. Clouded apollo.
4. Euchloë cardamines L. Orange Tip.

7. Colias hyale L. Pale clouded yellow.

 

The pre-cut high quality matboard has a lemon-yellow top layer, and is acid-free, protecting the print.
