Antique chromo lithograph of the Swallowtail and other butterflies, 1913
This beautiful bright coloured chromolithographic plate originates from the first edition of an antique atlas describing all butterflies, caterpillars and moths in the Netherlands in the early 1900's.
This 111-year-old print is in excellent condition and has 8 detailed illustrations of butterflies and caterpillars, including the Scarce swallowtail, and Old world swallowtail.
The numbers below correspond with the numbers on the plate:
1. Papilio Podalirius L. Scarce swallowtail
2. Papilio Machaon L. Old world swallowtail.
3. Aporia crataegi L. Black-veined white.
4. Pieris brassicae L. Large white / Cabbage white.
The pre-cut high quality matboard has an indigo / dark jeans-blue top layer, and is acid-free, protecting the print.
