This beautiful bright coloured chromolithographic plate is from the first edition of an antique atlas describing all butterflies, caterpillars and moths in the Netherlands in the early 1900's.

 

This fine print, which is 111 years old, is in excellent condition and has 12 detailed illustrations of butterflies and caterpillars of the Marbled white and Fritillary butterflies.

 

The numbers below correspond with the numbers on the plate

2. Argynnis aglaja L. Dark green fritillary.
3. Argynnis amathusia Esp.

The pre-cut high quality matboard has a light steel blue top layer, and is acid-free, protecting the print.
