This bright coloured and detailed chromolithographic print of the Brooklime (Veronica Beccabunga) originates from the first edition (1879) of a series of botanical books called 'Familiar Wild Flowers’ by E. Hulme.

 

This fine 145-year-old illustration is in good condition and comes with a pre-cut high quality matboard with an ivory coloured top layer. The matboard is acid-free, protecting the print. 

 

Frederick Edward Hulme (1841-1909), a naturalist and artist, was born in England. In 1870 he was appointed art and drawing master at Marlborough College, which was around the time he published Familiar Wild Flowers, his best known work.
