Antique chromo lithograph of 23 beetle species (Coleoptera), 1895
Beautifully coloured chromo-lithographic plate from 1895 with detailed illustrations of 23 beetle species, including some large beetles, such as Hercules beetle (Scarabeus hercules) and Stag beetle (Lucanus cervus) and the Sacred scarab (Ateuchus sacer). This plate originates from 'Wagner's Natuurlijk Historie', a book about natural history which was originally written by the German biologist Herman Wagner and translated into Dutch by D. Horn.
This exquisite 129-year-old plate is in excellent condition and comes with a pre-cut high quality matboard with a shiny golden top layer. The matboard is acid-free, protecting the print.
